Jay'Shun Matthews

Jay’Shun Mathews is a sophomore and Bonner Scholar at Morehouse College and the Founder and Executive Director of the Black Youth Empowerment Network, a national 501(c)(3) organization advancing leadership development, civic engagement, and community impact among Black youth. Under his leadership, BYEN has grown to engage over 500 members across 25+ states and established collegiate chapters that drive local activation and national connection. He is a Milken Institute HBCU Fellowship recipient, a HBCUniverse 30 Under 30 honoree, a Riley’s Way Senior Fellowship alum, and a Civics Unplugged Fellowship Regional Ambassador. His work is grounded in service, equity, and building scalable systems that expand access and opportunity for the next generation of leaders.
