
Joon Baek
Joon Baek is the co-founder of Youth for Privacy, a youth-led privacy and cybersecurity advocacy and education NGO. At Youth for Privacy, he advocates for youth privacy rights globally, and has spoken at UN forums on privacy regulations. Becoming a privacy advocate after his experience at the Korean Army, seeing the effects of digital surveillance, he aims to leverage his experience in technology and policy to advance inclusive digital governance. A former software engineer at Google, Joon has also worked on disarmament initiatives with the UN. Joon graduated with a B.A. and M.S. in computer science from Columbia University. He is a Schwarzman Scholar, UN Foundation NextGen fellow, and a Salzburg fellow.
