Kimberly Tsai
Kimberly Tsai Cawkwell is a proud 1.5-generation Taiwanese American immigrant, mother, educator, and creative whose journey is deeply rooted in resilience, curiosity, and a profound belief in the power of student voice. With over 15 years of experience in the education ecosystem, she currently serves as Director of Programs at Challenge Success, an affiliate of the Stanford Graduate School of Education and as an Ed.L advisor at the High Tech High (HTH) Graduate School of Education. In every role she takes on, Kim is guided by a commitment to equity and a deep reverence for the lived experiences of young people.
Raised as a multilingual learner in a small, semi-isolated motel beside a bustling New Orleans expressway, Kim’s early life was shaped by the complexity of navigating two cultures and multiple identities. These formative experiences—coupled with her time teaching and learning in diverse communities around the world—instilled in her a unique lens for culturally responsive education and a lifelong mission to create spaces where all students are seen, heard, and empowered.
Kim is driven by a belief that transformative learning emerges when students are trusted to lead, and when schools become places that honor curiosity, connection, and joy. From her own classroom to global educational spaces, she has witnessed the magic that unfolds when students are co-creators of their learning journeys. With humility and gratitude, Kim continues to support systemic change through deeper learning practices—learning just as much from her students and peers as she contributes.
Above all, she is inspired daily by the brilliance and courage of those who dedicate their lives to serving youth—and remains steadfast in her purpose: to uplift every student's story, passion, and potential.
