Jennifer Chiou

Jen Chiou is a nonprofit leader and social entrepreneur with a track record of creating and scaling programs that support youth development, mental health, and tech-driven solutions. As the founder of CodeSpeak Labs, a computer science education social enterprise, she empowers K-12 students to use tech to build a better world.

She’s the co-creator of Quest Craft, which she designed with her two pre-teen sons, a role-playing game that helps kids build creativity and social connection, which was central to her TEDxUCIrvine talk, “Dragons, Dice, and the Game that Teaches Kids What AI Can't.”

She is a 2025 JGCC Well-Being by Design Fellow and a 4.0 Schools fellow for innovations that support underrepresented youth. Jen was the founding Executive Director of Crisis Text Line, the first nationwide SMS-based crisis hotline for teenagers.

Jen has worked at the global NGO Teach For All and the nonprofit consultancy the Bridgespan Group. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University.
