Diana Turner
Throughout her career, Diana Turner has been a passionate New Orleans educator working to amplify student voices, cultivate inclusive and antiracist teaching methods, and build culturally relevant learning environments. Diana spent fourteen years in classrooms teaching elementary students and coaching teachers to create collaborative spaces. With a background in creative math education, Diana has designed and written innovative curriculums, creating tools that really work for teachers. In 2019, Diana founded Be Loud Studios, a student-run radio program, in response to her students needing a place to write and speak about what was important to them. Diana currently works at Be Loud Studios as Co-Director, amplifying the voices and stories of youth. In 2021, Diana was named as one of New Orleans Gambit’s 40 under 40 for her work in education and with Be Loud Studios. When not working, Diana is always ready to talk about a good book or plan an elaborate celebration for a friend.
