Michelle joined KQED in 2015 and is Executive Director of Education, where she leads award-winning initiatives that elevate diverse youth voices through educator professional learning, classroom media literacy and media-making resources, and youth-produced storytelling shared locally and across the public media system. Under her leadership, KQED has become a national model for youth media. She also co-leads the Public Media Youth Media Collective, a nationwide network of stations advancing media for, with, and by youth.

Previously, Michelle led operations and fundraising at the African American Art & Culture Complex and consulted at other Bay Area nonprofits. She began her career in music education and performance and holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance and Voice from Westminster Choir College.

Michelle currently serves as President of the San Francisco Elections Commission and has held numerous civic and education leadership roles at the local and state levels. She lives in San Francisco and is the proud parent of three young adults.
